"People should stop trying to play god." That will be kinda hard when people created god.
One of the many things i don't get is why clone humans in the first place. It's not like we don't have enough of them already. I just this will end up where we make a few clones, then stop and say we can. Not going into these things, like bringing dead people back to life by cloning (like in Phantasy Star) or creating massive clone armies (like in Star Wars).

Well I doubt that it would really happen or did. I mean I think it is a lie.
I also watched a movie on the History Channel last night. It was called Boys from Brazil. They had like cloned 94 Hitlers to rule the world but the main guy blah blah blah spoilers watch it. I liked it, so it's a good movie.
Clonation is just a tool, and the way you use it, is the way it is good or bad.
To harvest organs: if you mean create a full "human body" and use it only as a recipient for the organs within is just, plainly, and only sick. Respect fo the human life, please.
Not obstant, avances in the Genoma decryption, would lead scientist to clonate "just" organs, or mainly, tissues which could be genetically idential, with no incompatibility issues, to the, for example, damaged tissues of an ill person, and it would help him/her to heal. That is the way clonation would be useful.
Clonation, not obstant, as all in the science world could be used to create new and more advanced chemical weapons, not only "evangelions" the power of clonation is not create "giant humanoids" but to create an invisible oponent which could kill you and would not be able to do anything.
Clonation to get babies is just and plainly stupid. Human being is the result of thouands of years of evolution. In that process the combination of two individuals to get a new one was crucial, because, that way, human race could evolve to what it is now a days. Clonation just would "preserve" current DNA evolution, an error, no matter how you see it IMO. Humankind is still evolving.
Humans are social beings, (this board is a good example) if we started clonating humans, then, there would not be needed any other human to get a new member of this race. Human would lost its sense of being, and would eventually end disapearing (this last term is exagerated, but possible...) . And, to tell the truth, i prefer the "old way" of baby making [img]smile.gif[/img]
Clonation for tissue regeneration is fine for me, but i don't see any other utility for it. To get babies, you have the "in vitro" fecundation.
Earth life came from other planet? i think those people saw too much "Mision to Mars" But i one of the theories that can explain how did human life apared on this planet. And if it is true, i sincerelly, don't mind at all.

when Genoma decryption is complete, then, theoretically, humans would be able to "create" a new being with the characteristics they wanted, but, and this opens a question to all of you if you want to think about it, what would you create, if you had the power to do it?

Yeah, as OCB said, like there weren't enough humans on Earth. Besides, as you said, clonation stops evolution. (And we already stopped it enough by nullifying natural selection, but that's a long story for another thread.)
